California Rolls

Nothing like some sushi to satisfy an exotic urge! Fresh fish, seaweed, wasabi and soy sauce. Yum! We found a good recipe from Alton Brown on Food Network online. This was actually the second dish we made. I had made it before and it was a easy, but ooooh boy was this an adventure…

Chicken Gyros

Well, I’m a big fan of Greek food. I was first introduced to it in a little Greek restaurant on a trip somewhere in New York on a debate trip and just fell in love with everything we got; Baklava, Dolmades and Gyros. It was just amazing. Since then I have had a hard time finding GREAT gyros (chicken… seriously can’t stand the thought of eating lamb). I tried them at fairs and restaurants and they just didn’t compare. So when Andy suggested we do Gyros for The Kitchen Mission I was excited because I didn’t really know the components of this awesome dish.

Philly Cheese Steak Hogies

Hello world!

So, Andy and I are going to college and have picked up a new hobby: cooking! We went all out. Our plan was to spend $50 on each other for the Holidays and low and behold… we couldn’t figure anything out! So, we decided to buy a few things to get us started for cooking. You know… fry pan, pot, a spoon maybe even a knife or two. Well THAT blew up. We bought a knife set, two pans, two pots, a colander, spoons, spatulas, cutting boards, butcher block, essential ingredients … even plates and bowls. Whew! Was a little more than the anticipated budget.. but it was so worth it. I’m excited about all the possibilities we have for food! We’ve been talking about the possibility of making bread bowls.  Toodles!
